Under the title “Artificial intelligence as a driver of transformation”, the annual conference of medium-sized VDA member companies took place last week. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) unites more than 620 manufacturers and suppliers under one roof, making it the mouthpiece of the entire industry. With the aim of strengthening the location and the automotive suppliers, all key CEOs and family entrepreneurs, the top decision-makers in the automotive industry, met for a get-together in Bonn.
We from GOiNTERIM were represented as a partner and exhibitor with a stand at the conference. As we have a strong focus on the automotive sector and the supplier industry, this partnership is an important focal point at the VDA Mittelstandstag. A good opportunity to meet many well-known customers and managers in the automotive sector. But it was also a good opportunity to make new contacts and showcase our automotive expertise.
The potential of generative artificial intelligence and the competitiveness of Germany as an automotive location were central to the discussions among the participants. Practical examples were used to present data strategies and the tailored use of AI in production and supply chains.
Speakers included:
- Hendrik Wüst MdL, Minister President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia
- Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management BMW AG
- Prof. Dr. Stefan Wrobel, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS
- Daniela Schmitt MdL, Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture Rhineland-Palatinate
- Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry
- Arndt G. Kirchhoff, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the KIRCHHOFF Group, Vice President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)
- as well as excellent experts in the thematic deep dives and the panel discussion.
- and much more.
During the conference, we were able to hold very exciting and intensive discussions, make contacts and, above all, clearly demonstrate our expertise – both in the automotive world and in many areas of transformation and restructuring.
We were also pleased that Ms. Hildegard Müller, President of the VDA, and Mr. Arndt G. Kirchhoff, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the KIRCHHOFF Group and Vice President of the VDA, stopped by our stand. The designated Vice President Isabelle Kirschbaum-Rupf, from Rupf Industries GmbH, also visited us and spoke intensively about the current development and the topic of interim management, many thanks at this point!
The bottom line is that the automotive industry is currently in a difficult situation. There are many issues, legal frameworks and market requirements that are forcing companies to rethink their business model or implement a significant transformation. This is, of course, precisely our focus, specifically the use of interim managers in a wide variety of areas to manage and implement the transformation.
But the good news is that the problem has been recognized, many companies are already very successful in change and are showing that it is possible to develop successfully. Everyone agrees:
There is something to do… let’s do it!
All in all, our participation in the VDA SME Day was a great success! Exciting speakers and informative presentations characterized the days and offered a good opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences with well-known customers and new managers from the automotive world.
